Hey, the snow will be falling in a few months, I need to get into shape for some telemark skiing. What kind of stuff do others do to get ready for the season. I try to keep running to keep in shape, but other then that, I've never done to much. I've heard a rumor that we are getting lots of snow this winter

For tele skiing especially: Lunges, squats, plyometrics. Basic plyo info: http://www.google.com/url...-ZKjcH3a7nMA&cad=rja
Trail running is good as it uses all those little balance and stability muscles. Something like a bongo board is good when you are watching tv. Just a few starters. |

I have tried a lot, but the best is skiing. The trail running was the second best. Getting old sucks, because I used to just go ski....no worries. This year unfortunately, I will have to ski them into shape again.
La Nina...so yes, we should all see snow in the west. |

My preparation consists of doubles sand volleyball until the rains hit. Then it is into the gym for jump squats, 1/4 squats, elliptical trainer, biking and swimming for overall conditioning. Hiking or running is pretty good as well, especially with hills. It is important to build a good strength and cardio base.

I do triathlon, focus on Xterra, and ski in the winter for fun. So for me mtn biking, running, and hiking are all part of my Fall time "training" and have me somewhat ready for the East coast ski season.
